It is a penicillin type antibiotic. It is used to treat bacterial infections of lungs, ear, nasal sinus, urinary tract, soft tissues and skin. Amoxycillin works by stopping growth of bacteria and clavulanic acid reduces resistance and enhances activity of amoxycillin against bacteria. It also prevents diarrhoea which may occur as side effect while having antibiotics.
