Telmisartan is a angiotensin II receptor antagonist It works by blocking action of angiotensin II in the body which causes narrowing of blood vessels resulting in high blood pressure. Blocking it hinders its action and result in proper blood flow through blood vessels. Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic it acts on the distal convoluted tubules and blocks the sodium chloride co-transporter system. This action leads to a diuretic action that lowers blood pressure.
