It is used to prevent or reduce bleeding in conditions like tooth removal, heavy periods, nose bleeds, in hemophiliacs, in oral,prostate or bladder surgery. It works by slowing the breakdown of blood clots by blocking the release and action of plasmin(enzyme needed for breakdown of blood clots)which helps to prevent prolonged bleeding. This results in slowing down the bleeding.
