Triglimiprex 1mg tablet contains glimepiride, metformin and pioglitazone. It belongs to group of medication known as anti-diabetic drug. It is used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus. Glimepiride is a sulphonylurea, it works by lowering blood sugar by stimulating the pancreatic beta cells to produce insulin (a natural substance that is needed to break down sugar in the body) and helping the body use insulin efficiently. Metformin is a biguanides it works by lowering glucose production in liver, it slows down intestinal absorption of glucose and improves insulin sensitivity. Pioglitazone is a thiazolidinediones, it works by increasing the sensitivity of liver, muscle and fat cells to insulin and enables cells to remove glucose from blood more effectively.
